Why Independent News Channels Are Growing in India

YouTube has made it possible for journalists, specialist commentators and digital-first media organisations to build audiences without relying entirely on the traditional television-news format.

Viewers can now choose between quick news updates, long-form interviews, ground reports, political commentary, geopolitical analysis and regional-language reporting.

This has also created substantial audiences outside Hindi. Channels such as The Khalas TV in Punjabi and PROTHOM KOLKATA in Bengali demonstrate how regional-language digital journalism has become an important part of India's YouTube ecosystem.

Final Thoughts

India's YouTube news ecosystem now extends far beyond conventional television news.

Large digital platforms such as The Lallantop, journalist-led channels including Abhisar Sharma, Ajit Anjum, Punya Prasun Bajpai and Deepak Sharma, specialist platforms such as The Chanakya Dialogues, and newer digital outlets such as News Pinch give viewers very different ways to follow current affairs.

Regional channels are equally important. The Khalas TV serves Punjabi audiences, while PROTHOM KOLKATA provides Bengali-language news content.

IndiTubeDb brings these channels together so users can discover and compare Indian news creators across languages, topics and audience sizes.
